Matt and Allison~The Newlyweds!

Snagged from Facebook~Matt's page
Garden parties have been plentiful over the years we have lived in our home and this year will be no exception.  We kicked off the summer early with the reception for Matt and Allison Hopkins. They were married on 7 April in the Dallas Temple and have come here this weekend to be honored by a reception.

Getting ready for a big event is always hard work but so worth it.  It is something we can give our good friends and it also gets us motivated to keep things maintained and summer-ized for the season.

Jim worked himself pretty hard washing away
winter and it was so nice to see and to now
have the results of all that toil and sweat.
His best friend, Dave Marquardson,
came over to help work on
the pond one of the days.
Those two work so well together
they are like a well-oiled machine,
 getting the work
of six men done in a day.
The Pond and Waterfall
While they did that I worked really hard
on the inside last week and so by
Saturday all our spring cleaning was done too.
We like to do this because
creating the environment or stage
upon which memories are made
is really something
 we both enjoy doing.
The details make the difference.
 Look how Disneyland
is staged for your enjoyment.
My favorite part was getting the
newlyweds' room ready.

We love to share the yard as it can accommodate a large number of people and they seem to enjoy it.  For many years, at least 20, our group of friends have helped each other do weddings.

We've done lots of parties and wedding events over the years.  It's fun and makes it less overwhelming.  We missed Barb and Connie who could not be with us for this one.  Downton Abbey Downstairs was incomplete without them.

The weather had been threatening rain
all week for Saturday afternoon but
we took our chances and said a few
prayers.  It turned out to be
a beautiful day.

Blue skies with billowy white clouds
And our trumpet vine's first blossoms
and evidence of Summer.
